Techno’s roots lie in Detroit’s 1980s dance music movement, where synthesiser melodies and rapid electronic rhythms were fused with house beats. House music itself is built around a steady 4/4 beat, a tempo around 120‑130 BPM and layers of percussion that create hypnotic grooves.
By drawing on these traditions and infusing them with ambient soundscapes, John Musichead delivers tracks that are both physical and introspective. From a childhood steeped in classical music to an eclectic taste spanning rock, pop and electronic, John’s musical journey has been one of exploration and evolution.
About John
As a young music lover, John spent hours playing with vinyl records and cassette tapes, dissecting melodies and imagining new sounds.
After years of DJing in Liège clubs, he studied digital production and began blending techno’s repetitive motifs with IDM’s abstract textures.
The four‑on‑the‑floor beat—four consecutive quarter‑note kicks that provide a steady pulse—became the skeleton for his compositions, allowing him to weave syncopated hi‑hats, hypnotic bass lines and expressive synths on top.
Inspired by classical composers, film scores and surrealist painters, John aims to capture emotions in frequencies. His work is not just music; it is an invitation to experience sound as a narrative space.
