Overview: Perimental, John Musichead’s second EP, is an exploration of form, rhythm and controlled chaos. Each track evolves through broken patterns and continuous modulation, blurring the line between structure and instinct. Inspired by IDM’s emphasis on listening over dancing, Perimental balances raw energy with deep introspection. Tracks travel through shifting textures, unpredictable rhythms and evolving sonic landscapes—an experiment in movement and emotion.

1. Mic Mac

This piece explores the collision of IDM, experimental and psychedelic layers forming a textured, evolving soundscape. Inspired by the idea that the micro shapes the macro, it unfolds through shifting rhythms and dreamlike patterns—intricate, organic and alive. IDM often rewards close listening with subtle soundscapes; Mic Mac embodies this philosophy.

2. Nerf

An interpretation of Armonía (Autorretrato Sugerente), a painting by Mexican surrealist Remedios Varo. In Varo’s work, the artist sits at a table composing three‑dimensional sheet music by stringing objects like flowers, leaves and crystals while ghost‑like figures assist. She described it as an attempt to find the invisible thread linking all things. John translates this tension between control and chaos into music, blending gritty textures and evolving rhythms to fuse organic and mechanical energy. The track floats between reality and illusion, evoking the painting’s mystical atmosphere.
